Get help
Found a problem, have a question, or a file that won't open? Email me and I'll help as soon as I can.
- Your device (for example, iPad Air) and iOS version (Settings › General › About)
- The kind of file (CBZ, CBR, PDF, EPUB…) and where it came from
- What you expected, what happened, and any message the app showed
- A screenshot, if it shows the problem
Adding comics and books
The quickest way: in Mail, Messages, Safari or the Files app, tap a comic or book to open its preview, then tap Share and choose SeeBeeArr. If it isn't in the row of apps, swipe along and tap More. SeeBeeArr adds the file to your library and opens it. Comics sent by AirDrop work the same way.
To add many files at once, put them in the app's own folder with Apple's Files app:
- Open Files and find your comic or book, often in Downloads or iCloud Drive.
- Touch and hold it, choose Move, then go to On My iPad (or On My iPhone) › SeeBeeArr.
- Back in SeeBeeArr, tap the refresh button or pull down on the shelves.
You can also connect a folder you already keep elsewhere, such as iCloud Drive, a USB drive or a network share: tap ⋯ › Add Folder… in the app. The ? button in the app has a full guide, including how to add files from a Mac or PC.
Common questions
A file won't open. What can I do?
SeeBeeArr shows a message explaining why. The usual causes:
- Copy protection (DRM). Most books bought from Apple Books, Kindle and other stores are protected and can't be opened by other apps.
- An incomplete download. If a site needed you to sign in first, the "comic" may really be a saved web page. Download it again.
- A file still in iCloud. SeeBeeArr downloads it when you open it, which needs an internet connection.
If none of these fit, email me the message you see.
Why did a page turn sideways or upside down?
Some comics have two-page spreads drawn sideways, and some scans are upside down. SeeBeeArr reads the lettering to spot these and turns the page so it reads correctly. If it gets one wrong, tap the rotate button at the top of the reader to turn the page yourself; SeeBeeArr remembers your choice. You can switch automatic turning off in the same menu.
Can pages turn to fit the screen instead of the screen turning?
Yes. Tap the rotate button at the top of the reader and switch on Fit Pages to Screen. Any page that doesn’t match the shape of your screen is turned so it fills it: hold your iPad upright, and when a wide spread comes up, turn the iPad to the left to read it. Tapping the left or right edge of the page turns pages as usual: the tap zones turn with the page.
To stop the screen itself turning as you turn the iPad, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center and turn on Rotation Lock. Apps can’t lock the iPad’s screen themselves, so this setting does it.
How do I turn pages and zoom?
Tap the right edge of the screen for the next page and the left edge for the previous one, or swipe. Tap the middle to show or hide the controls. In comics, spread two fingers apart to zoom in on a panel.
In a folder of comics or books, turning past the last page opens the next one in the folder, so you can read a whole series straight through.
A book you've started shows how far you've read on its cover, such as 42%. Once you've read it to the end, the cover shows a green check instead. Touch and hold a cover and choose Mark as Read or Mark as Unread to change it; Mark as Unread also starts the book over.
How do I delete a comic or book?
In SeeBeeArr, touch and hold the cover and choose Delete, then confirm. This works for files in SeeBeeArr's own folder.
Files in folders you added with Add Folder belong to that folder (for example, in iCloud Drive), so SeeBeeArr leaves them alone: delete those in the Files app. Removing an added folder from SeeBeeArr never deletes anything.
Can SeeBeeArr open Kindle books?
It opens older Kindle-format files without copy protection (MOBI, PRC, AZW). Newer Kindle-only formats (AZW3, KFX) and protected Kindle purchases can't be opened.
Where can I find free comics?
The Digital Comic Museum has thousands of public-domain Golden Age comics, free and legal to download (a free account is needed). SeeBeeArr also comes with the first pages of Winsor McCay's Little Nemo in Slumberland (1905).
Will I lose my place if I delete the app?
Reading positions are stored only on your device, so deleting SeeBeeArr removes them, along with any files in the app's own folder. Move files you want to keep somewhere else in the Files app first.
Supported formats
| Kind | Formats |
|---|---|
| Comics | CBZ · CBR · CB7 · CBT · PDF |
| Ebooks | EPUB · MOBI / PRC / AZW · LIT · FB2 |
| Documents | TXT · Markdown · HTML · RTF |
Files are recognized by their contents, so a comic with the wrong file extension usually still opens.
Privacy Policy
SeeBeeArr collects nothing
Effective October 4, 2026
What we collect
Nothing. SeeBeeArr does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it does not send your data to the developer or to anyone else.
Your files
Your comics and books stay on your device, or in the folders you choose to connect, such as iCloud Drive. SeeBeeArr only opens the files and folders you give it, and only to display them. Covers, reading positions and page rotations are saved on your device so the app can show your library and remember your place. They are removed if you delete the app.
iCloud and other services
If you keep files in iCloud Drive or another storage service, your device downloads them from that service under your own account. SeeBeeArr has no access to your account and receives nothing from it.
Links to other websites
The app's Help screen links to other websites, such as the Digital Comic Museum. Those sites open in your web browser and have their own privacy policies.
Children
SeeBeeArr collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
